Fun Ideas for Clown and Circus Related Party

Need some ideas for food to serve for a circus themed party?  Here’s some great ones.

Kids Birthday Party Ideas for Party Food

For this theme, serve anything you would find at the circus or carnival, such as the following kids birthday party ideas for food:

  • Hot dogs
  • Corn dogs
  • Burgers
  • Chicken Strips
  • French Fries
  • Nachos and cheese
  • Chili
  • Corn on the Cob
  • Peanut Butter and Jelly-phant sandwiches (PB&J) – Cut in different animal shapes with animal cookie cutters.
  • Clown Face dip – Mix two cups of sour cream with two tablespoons of dry onion soup in a small bowl. Put the dip in the fridge for at least two hours to chill. Then spoon the dip into small round dishes. To turn each little dish into a clown face by adding green olives (the ones with the red inside of them) for the eyes, a cherry tomato for the nose, a happy face with a red pepper slice, and carrot and celery sticks for the clown’s collar. Then add pretzel sticks on both sides of the head for hair and a tortilla chip hat. Serve with a platter of vegetables.

Kids Birthday Party Ideas for Party Drinks

  • Lemonade stand – Here’s a good homemade lemonade recipe: In a saucepan combine one and 3/4 cups of white sugar with one cup of water. Bring to a boil and stir until the sugar has dissolved. Let it cool to room temperature and put in the refrigerator until it’s well chilled. Before the party squeeze lemons (you’ll need about one and a half cups), retain the pulp and put in a big pitcher. Add the chilled sugar syrup and 7 more cups of water (if you add chilled water you won’t need to add so many ice cubes). You can add some mint leaves into the pitcher for a unique taste.
  • Soda Pop and juice boxes: Take big coolers, add lots of ice and stick in all kinds of sodas and juices so that the kids can choose what they like.

Tip: A day before the party, make colorful ice cubes by putting food coloring in the ice trays. You can also add fun things like gummy worms to the ice cubes (the ice will harden with a gummy worm half frozen inside). When you serve lemonade, or a clear soft-drink like 7-Up or Sprite, drop one of the colorful ice cubes inside and see how the drink’s color changes!

Kids Birthday Party Ideas for Party Treats

  • Churros
  • Caramel apples
  • Soft pretzels
  • Frozen bananas on a popsicle stick (you can cover bananas with things like chocolate, caramel, sprinkles, nuts, rice krispies, etc.)
  • Peanuts (best with the shells)
  • Popcorn
  • Colorful candies (M&M’s, skittles, gumdrops, jelly beans, etc.)
  • Colorful Popsicles

Tip: you can use upside down top hats as containers.
